Abraham: Father of the Twelve Tribes

Abraham and Melchizedek
Abraham and Melchizedek, Peter Paul Reubens, 1625

... But the question arises as to whether these signs are a refraction of cosmic events or cooperation with world energies. One must accept the latter. The refined microcosm will be a true collaborator of the Macrocosm. It is said that Abraham walked before the Lord. Let us understand this as full cooperation. From this completeness is also born the fulfillment of the law of Existence. Fiery World I, #31, 1933 Agni Yoga Society

Abraham’s unwavering devotion to the will of God and the passing of seemingly incomprehensible tests allowed him to become the father of a new people called the tribes of Israel. He planted seeds, literally. The reasons are deeply mystical, mostly having to do with dharma and karma.

As in many great undertakings for the Great White Brotherhood, Abraham was not left to his own devices. One known as Melchisedek from an ancient order of the Brotherhood came to assist him with an anointing and blessings but only after Abraham acknowledged the contact and presence of a higher power.

Abraham and Sara gave birth to Isaac who married Rebecca and became the father of Jacob. Jacob passed his trials and married Rachel and fathered twelve sons, each the progenitor of one of the twelve tribes. These Twelve Tribes of the Israelites became the foundation of a new life wave of key souls who were pursuing the path to the One God. They were the reincarnation of many lightbearers who still needed to achieve their individual spiritual victory and mission.

The spriritual history of the tribes of Israel has little to do with a genetic race or ancestors. It has everything to do with a reincarnating group of souls who have a strong tie to the Light and the Great White Brotherhood. From the time of Atlantis to Abraham and onward, the leaders and heroes have had to battle with wrong desires and misplaced devotions just like the rest of us.

Joseph - Faces The Test of Injustice

The twelve sons of Jacob were jealous of the "favorite" son, Joseph. They sold him into slavery and told their father that he had been killed. Even so, God protected them by bringing Joseph to Egypt and his visions of the future there helped the Pharaoh prepare for a long time of famine. It came to pass that Joseph’s brothers later found their way to Egypt where Joseph recognized them and in order to forgive them and extend mercy had to overcome his sense of injustice. So their children and children’s children became the twelve Tribes, which stayed in Egypt under grace and multiplied until the cycles changed and servitude became their lot. And at the end of this cycle, it was time for the "Deliverer" to take the Israelites to their new home and to create a new foundation for a new phase of the spiritual path.

Moses: The Deliverer and Giver of the Law of the Ruby Ray

The heart was always regarded as the focal point of life. Then people, in their hearts, become cognizant of the Yoga of Hierarchy, in other words, the link with the Supreme. Now there has been set down the Yoga of the Subtle and Fiery Worlds; such cooperation of the heart appears as a new condition in people's consciousness. Precisely, we must not remain within the boundaries of abstract ethics. The events and indisputable conditions lead mankind toward new paths; therefore We so greatly advise discarding the yoke of habit, and an understanding of our unique times.

Moses delved into the science of Egypt, but he outdistanced it through the Ten Commandments. Thus acts the Yoga of Hierarchy. Now We advise the scientists It is necessary that you observe the heart with all your processes, and you will encounter manifestations that are not clear to you. Heart #500, 19 Agni Yoga Society

The Prince Moses, a Hebrew or Israelite by birth, but raised as a son of the Pharaoh till manhood is an amazing historical figure. The Bible does not dwell on how much of the Egyptian mystery Teachings he mastered before he came to identify with the Israelites and free them. In a miraculous series of events, Moses is cast out of Egypt and into the desert of Midian where he meets the Lord God (as personified by the Master Sanat Kumara, the Ancient of Days) in the Mountain.

Moses is commanded to return to Egypt and to ask Pharaoh to release the Israelites - a seemingly impossible task. Moses wonders who is commanding him and why the Pharaoh will listen. "Who shall I say sends me?" says Moses. "Tell him I AM THAT I AM hath sent you" replies the LORD. Moses hears the Mystical Name of God, I AM THAT I AM, and understands it as an eternal state of beingness and freedom. The Lord sends Moses back to Egypt to free His people Israel.

By many miraculous events, increasingly unpleasant to the Egyptians, Moses causes Pharaoh to allow the Israelites to leave Egypt. They had to choose freedom, the unknown and march with their Teacher out of their homeland in complete faith. They are pursued by the Egyptians and are caught at the Red Sea; with the sea before them and the armies of Egypt behind them. And the Lord parted the Red Sea so that the Israelites could cross over in to the "Promised Land".

The Israelites then follow Moses with more miraculous intervention of having their God visibly travel with them as a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. They were given miraculous "manna" in the desert to eat. Yet even so, this recalcitrant reincarnated group of souls chose to worship their older, more comfortable god when Moses stayed too long away from them upon the mountain.

These are very important spiritual lessons and ones that we are still learning and mastering.

Moses came down from the mountain after his communion with Sanat Kumara, with the actual direct communication from the Lord as law for the new community. But when he saw their betrayal, that they could not wait for him to return, but began to worship a false "god", Moses threw down the tablets of the Law. Only later, did Moses give the Israelites the Ten Commandments; which an esoteric teaching has described as a simplified distillation of the original Law. The second set became the foundation of their Judaic religion and law.

The annals of the Brotherhood say that the original Teachings that Moses brought down the mountain were the "Teachings of the Ruby Ray" which is the science of the transformation of souls from karmic entrapment to complete union with God. It is the science of the mystical marriage of soul to spirit. Only in these days of the dawning of the Aquarian Age as the Voice of the Seventh Angel sounds through the Two Witnesses as prophesied in the Book of Revelations, have the Teachings of the Ruby Ray been given again to mankind.

The story of the Israelites in the Promised Land is a study of psychology as well as karma. They receive the direct intervention of God, the teachings of Moses and Joshua, the Promised Land itself; but still they stumble, rebel and disobey their God.

God sent them his Old Testament Prophets, such as Ezekiel and Samuel, to realign them to their first estate and the way of Divine Law. When they demanded a King like other nations, He had Samuel his prophet attempt to teach them the higher way of spiritual and individual freedom. Yet, they still wanted a King. The Lord bowed to their free will and gave them the troublesome Saul, and then David the Shepherd-King.

When the Israelites needed saving, God sent them leaders and heroes, men who were not above the trials of their people, but men who faced and overcame those trials: Joseph, Moses and Joshua. After passing their trials on earth, all of them moved up the spiritual path to become Ascended Masters.

God wrestled with these tribes for thousands of years. Some of the lost Tribes disappeared from the well-known history, though they have been traced by linguists and archeologists as having taken a northern route and then headed West across Europe. In their wake they left a trail of standing stones, altars, and myths of a wandering people who would not intermarry and felt called to travel west. As cycles turned, the Israelites also reincarnated into different nations. The Lightbearers are part of every nation and culture as they seek to raise themselves and their fellow men. The ones whose principal job it is to lead the others in a spiritual re-awakening have come from the tribal tree of Joseph. They are known as Manasseh and Ephraim and have embodied in America and Britain.
