What is the Worldwide Ashram?

The Worldwide Ashram is a decentralized international organization introduced by the Ascended Master El Morya that transcends national borders and the confines of time and space;
The Ashram is people (and angels, ascended beings, devas, etc.) applying their hearts energy to actively build Good Will around the planet through local activities, meditation groups, prayer and decree meetings;
The nature of the Ashram is free-will, un-coerced action from the heart and the heart's attunement to Hierarchy;
The Ashram does not call for anyone's disaffiliation from any organization and does not ask for membership or dues;
Those in the Ashram seek out the lightbearers who have never heard the soul liberating message of the Ascended Master Jesus Christ or Saint Germain; and
By its very nature, the Ashram is a network of souls working toward a common purpose on the inner, but not necessarily aware of it on the outer, so we are a decentralized, Self-actualizing organization.

Mark Prophet beautifully summarized it in the Ashram Notes, "In the Ashram, we work to rebuild our lives according to the pattern directed to us from our own individualized God Presence and Holy Christ Self. We inwardly pledge to work for a divine renaissance on earth. And we daily rebuild the inner temple according to the pattern we individually receive from God in our meditations on the mount of illumination."

On spiritual organizatons, in 1925 El Morya said in the Agni Yoga Society book Leaves of Morya's Garden II, Illumination:

III:V:13. Two signs of the authenticity of the Teaching are: first, striving for the Common Weal; second, acceptance of all previous Teachings which are congruous with the first sign. It must be noted that the primary form of a Teaching does not contain negative postulates. But superstitious followers begin to fence in the Covenants with negations, obstructing the good. There results the ruinous formula: "Our creed is the best," or, "We are the true believers; all others are infidels." From this point it is a single step to the Crusades, to the Inquisition, and to seas of blood in the name of Those Who condemned killing. There is no worse occupation than forcible imposition of one's creed.

Whoever wishes to follow Us must first of all forget negation and freely bear the renewed life without constraint of others. People are attracted by beauty and by luminous knowledge. Only that Teaching which contains all hope, which makes life beautiful, which manifests action, can promote true evolution.

The purpose of the Worldwide Ashram is to aid spiritual seekers in the building of communities, focusing on the what to do and leaving the prohibitions to fall by the wayside.

What is the Worldwide Ashram Inc.?

A corporation is a legal fiction given stature and power by the state. Worldwide Ashram, Inc is merely a corporate structure, a facade in a sense. Its officers are not seeking to create a central authority, since any central authority by its nature spawns a bureaucracy that ends up acting to preserve itself, not the spirit of its mission. By giving the corporation more power than it is worth, one would unavoidably begin to see the corporation take on a more intrusive presence on the Worldwide Ashram than Morya or his mentor intended.

If you think about it, we all have ways that we have been trained unawares to see doing something as the "right way". Morya’s challenge to those who wish to accept it, is to build the new world and the Ashram in a way in which we may not have necessarily been taught, a way that is not the way of this world, but can work in this world. Even Jesus instructed his followers not to pour the new wine into old wine skins - his teachings could not truly survive if the Apostles recreated the Sanhedrin and the society in which they had grown up. What in our training may lead us astray? Let's look at the training we are comfortable with:

Vertical
Follow orders
Fear the ones above you on the corporate ladder
Safety lies in gaining more power, having plausible deniability, not being too creative

Our training for corporate life (or the 9 to 5 job) was successfully implanted by how we were taught in school (as opposed to what we were taught). Generally in our schooling, we were told what to think, what and when to do things, punished for mistakes, and prohibitions were used to govern behavior.

In a bit of an anti-corporate corporate move, the Worldwide Ashram Inc seeks to make a shift, such as looking at how to think versus what to think and looking at how other people have creatively found ways to effectively do things. Take mistakes in stride and expect them as a part of a learning process. Focus on building an international community that helps people fulfill their passion to build a better tomorrow through the arts, sciences, business or whatever calling.

What does the Ashram look like?

A Holy Spirit network - horizontal between coworkers and groups
Utilize the creativity of the individual and groups
Love the ones you work with and serve
Safety lies in harmony and cooperation and fulfilling the works of the Masters and our heart's prompting
Benefit: commune, assemble, act as the Spirit calls and then go back to chopping wood and carrying water.

What is the Ashram's recent history?

"Advocates of the Worldwide Ashram" are those of us who have been acting together, rather harmoniously as a loosely affiliated, Holy Spirit led, somewhat effective group that learns by doing and seeing how other organizations work in healthy cooperation.

Our Foundations are simple: cooperation, harmony, goodwill.

Where does the Ashram go from here?

Everyone's actions in pursuit of their heartfelt inner directions are the simple answer. Each advocate is like a seed. Seeds know intuitively what to do. The acorn doesn't first open a manual to find out how to sprout. Once sprouted, doesn't get told the next growth step by nearby oak trees. The Ancient of Days said that our laws are written in our inward parts. We did not come with a manual, so how do we know how to foster the growth of the fiery seed in our heart? With love. Find a need and fill it with love and action.

The seed of the Worldwide Ashram grows as we each act as advocates. Morya said in a 1990 dictation, "How you take what is given, how you lock your forces with this antahkarana of God, how you increase the resurrection fire, how you do all these things is the most determining factor of all. Not what I say, beloved, but what you say and do will determine the outcome of your life and of this Community."

How do we lock our forces? To take a leaf out of an old general's strategy book - go into battle with three columns, then it doesn't matter if your battle plan is met with stiff resistance, roll with the punches, use another column, but find that point of opportunity and take it. Set backs happen, however, notice how setbacks often turn into disasters when we have locked our forces into a dogmatic plan. We see the organization as somewhat anti-organizational, in that we have found that it is possible to lock our forces, not so much on the outer, but lock them on the inner - working as one in heart. Sort of Taoist. However, effective and fun.

Think of the Holy Spirit as an invisible ocean and we are all boats sailing on that rolling sea. We can’t see the full extent of the ocean, but we can see one another’s boats nearby. We are inspired by what is happening in Sweden, in Russia, South America and in spiritual groups around the United States. We can detect the ocean of the Holy Spirit in all the great things that are moving the planet and the Ashram forward.
